Masonic Light Group Rules of Behavior

Remember: Membership in this private group is a privilege! If you become disruptive, the group owner or discussion moderator will remove you as a member of this group.

1. You agree to conduct yourself with the behavior one would expect of a Freemason. "Do unto others..." comes to mind as good rule to follow.
    
2. You understand that there will be participating Freemasons, both men and women, from Masonic jurisdictions from around the world with which your own Masonic jurisdiction may or may not be in amity.
    
3. You agree to sign your group messages/postings with at least your real first name so that you may be properly addressed. Full name and lodge name/number and jurisdiction is welcome. Please understand that each member speaks ONLY for his or her own self and NOT on behalf of any Masonic jurisdiction and or its appendant bodies or concordant orders.
    
4. You agree to refrain from using sexist, racist, insensitive, insulting, abusive or foul language. You further understand that you alone are solely responsible for the content of your own postings. Should you find yourself in an on-list argument with another member of the list, you agree to take further any dialog off of the list and attempt to resolve your differences with the other list member(s) amicably and privately.  The moderator or group owner will only get involved so far as to restore proper order and decorum to the group.
    
5. The discussion of religion, spirituality and politics IS permitted providing there is a significant Masonic context involved and that the discourse is conducted with civility and respect for all parties involved -- at the group owner or list moderator's discretion.
    
6. You understand that you are taking part in an International forum and will read your messages/postings carefully to avoid using language that may be insensitive to the diverse socio-cultural audience who will be reading the messages. Please "re-read" your message before you hit the send button.
    
7. You agree to obey any requests the group owner or moderator may make on the list regarding any of the discussion topics which may be in progress.
    
8. You understand that each person is solely responsible for their own messages/postings. You will not forward or re-transmit any ML group message to any person or persons without the author's consent.
    
9. You agree to use proper "netiquette" by using proper spelling, punctuation and grammar (If English is not your first language - please do the best you can - we understand), quoting just enough of a previous message to make your reply understandable and snipping the remainder, not using all capital letters, keeping the SUBJECT line relevant to the content of your message and conducting all private discussions offlist.
    
10. You agree not to forward chain letter emails, joke-of-the-day emails and other emails of similar style/content to the ML group. (Masonic jokes notwithstanding).
     
11. You agree to abide by these rules and any subsequent revisions or additions to the rules. The current list of rules is posted at http://www.masoniclight.org/rules.html and will be emailed to all members on a monthly basis.
